  I married and lived in an unhappy relationship for 18 years. My ex was a devote Jdub but I wasn't. I was living a double life trying to make her happy and it doesn't work. You have to want to get baptized for yourself, not for anyone else. She has too love you unconditionally and if she can't then walk away. It will hurt at first but you will be happier in the long run. Believe me there are lots of nice girls out there that would accept you for who you are.

  The WT frowned on any recreational activilty that would take away from the door banging preaching work. I don't recall specifically the chess article although I knew an older Jdub couple that would not play cards because they said it had questionable origins.

  now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!

  perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.

  now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

  I took the "1914 Generation" prophecy seriously. Did you?

  i was born in 1964, a convenient 50 years after 1914. even in my early teens i was doing the sums.

  i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!

  i figured that i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!

  I can relate to what you are saying.

  In the early 70's the push was on from the WT to not to get a higher education but to go into the full time preaching work. In 1974 I quit school in grade 12 and went preaching because we were convinced that the new system would be here by the end of 1975. I can't say it completely ruined my life because as an adult I have taken responsiblity for my own actions but it did set me back a few years. I went on to take part time studies and upgrade my skills. I may not have the "dream job" but I do OK financailly.

  Same with me and the 1975 hype. I know so many ex dubs that put all their faith in the 1914/1975 dates. I am sure if you asked them they would say the same thing as me that they fell away due to the WT broken proficies.

  this is a program that was made by yorkshire television (uk) exposing a child sex ring run by larry king, how it was covered up by the fbi aswell as the media, and how it linked into the top politicians at the time.

  this documentary exposed a network of religious leaders and washington politicians who flew children to washington d.c. for sex orgies.

  listed for viewing in tv guide magazine was to be aired on the discovery channel, on may 3, 1994. at the last minute before airing, unknown congressmen threatened the tv cable industry with restrictive legislation if this documentary was aired.

  In around 40 BC, in Rome, a historian recorded that 2,000 people were crucified in a single day, for the entertainment of Quintilius Varus! About 40 years after Jesus' Crucifixion, the Romans crucified around 500 per day in 70 AD.

  Yeah like in Monnty Python's, "Life of Brian" they were crucifying dozens of people and the one on the crosses started singing, "Always look on the Bright side of Life".
